Black Photon Clownfish Medium

SKU: AO170Categories: Saltwater Fish

The Black Photon Clownfish is created by breeding the Black and White Darwin Ocellaris and Onyx Percula Clownfish. As young juveniles, they display brown and orange colors, but as they mature, their brown color changes to solid black, while their orange color remains on their face, belly, and anal fin. These captivating clownfish can grow up to 3 inches in an aquarium and can be kept alone or in groups. These clownfish are stunning with their dark orange color and contrasting white, and they were first bred by Dr. Sanjay Joshi, who is known for his expertise in LED lighting theory and technology. The Black Photon Clownfish has an advantage over wild-harvested species, as captive-bred clownfish are more accustomed to the conditions found in home aquariums, making them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced aquarists. Breeding captive-bred clownfish is relatively easy, with the female typically being the larger of the pair, and they tend to stay close to each other in the aquarium. These fish are egg-layers and will deposit their eggs on a flat surface while defending them from other tank mates. The eggs will usually hatch in 6-11 days depending on the temperature, and the fry will need to be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers and baby brine shrimp. Captive-bred clownfish are omnivores, and their diet should include both meaty foods and greens. They will readily accept high-quality marine flake food rich in spirulina algae, as well as freeze-dried and frozen foods.
