Desjardinii Sailfin Tang Small
The Desjardini Sailfin Tang, also referred to as the Indian Ocean Sailfin Tang, Desjardin’s Sailfin Tang, or Red Sea Sailfin Tang, boasts a coloration that ranges from dark to very light gray with light freckles on the nose and yellow freckles on the abdomen. Its body features several yellow stripes of different sizes, with intricate markings between the stripes on the face. It has a blue tail with white freckles. The size of its dorsal and anal fins can be modified to almost double its appearance. A 180-gallon or larger tank is necessary to allow this fish enough space to swim. It is aggressive towards other Sailfin Tangs and members of the same species at times, so it’s best to keep only one unless the tank is quite spacious. It feeds on filamentous algae. Although Tangs are omnivores and consume meaty foods, offering them marine-based seaweed and algae is crucial to boost their immune system, decrease aggression, and improve their overall health. You can provide dried seaweed by tying it to a rock or using a veggie clip and feed at least three times a week. It is important to note that Tangs can play a crucial role in controlling algae growth in saltwater aquariums.
