Naso Tang Extra Large

SKU: AO9664Categories: Saltwater Fish, Tang

The Naso Tang, also known as the Orangespine Unicornfish, undergoes a change in color as it matures. Those from Hawaii tend to be more vibrant than those found elsewhere. As a juvenile, the Hawaiian Naso Tang is dark gray with a blue stripe along its dorsal fin and an orange stripe in its anal fin. Upon maturing, its body turns reddish-brown and its juvenile striping is complemented with additional hues. Its tail takes on a lyre shape with a yellow vertical bar towards the back, and two orange patches appear at the peduncle spines near the tail. Its face undergoes the most significant transformation, as a black mask forms between the eyes and mouth, outlined with bright yellow, and the lips develop a reddish-orange hue. To provide sufficient space for swimming and hiding, a 180 gallon or larger aquarium with a tight-fitting lid to prevent jumping is required. The Naso Tang is aggressive towards other Tangs but peaceful with other fish in the tank. While Tangs can consume meaty foods along with other fish in the aquarium, it is important to offer them ample marine-based seaweed and algae. This will enhance their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve their overall health. Feeding dried seaweed tied to a rock or using a veggie clip at least three times per week is ideal. Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad, and Ocean Nutrition are all excellent products that are easy to use.
