Powder Brown Tang Large
The Powder Brown Tang, also known as the Powder Brown Surgeonfish, Japan Surgeonfish, and White-faced Surgeonfish, has a brown body with a distinctive white mark on its cheek between the mouth and eyes. Its pectoral, anal, and dorsal fins are dark brown with light blue highlights at the tip, and the dorsal fin features an orange stripe. The tail is blue with a yellow vertical bar, and yellow striping runs along the body, forming a wishbone-shaped marking against the anal and dorsal fins. To accommodate their need for swimming space, a 125-gallon or larger aquarium is required for Powder Brown Tangs. It is recommended to keep only one per tank and exercise caution when housing them with other Tangs or Surgeonfish, as similar-shaped Tangs can be aggressive towards each other. While Tangs can eat meaty foods along with other fish in the aquarium, it is important to offer them plenty of marine-based seaweed and algae to strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression, and improve overall health. Dried seaweed can be tied to a rock or offered on a veggie clip, and it should be fed at least three times per week. Products such as Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad, and Ocean Nutrition are ideal and easy to use.
