Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse
The Banded Possum Wrasse, also known as the Pygmy Possum Wrasse or Arrowhead Wrasse, hails from the waters of Indonesia. Its arrowhead shape and striking coloration make it a popular addition to fish-only or reef aquariums. As juveniles, they are mostly red/orange with yellow vertical stripes, which darken to a deep rustish color as they mature. The male and female of this species are similarly colored, but males will display more intense colors during courtship, which can vary based on their mood. Peaceful and active, the Banded Possum Wrasse is an excellent choice for aquariums of 10 gallons or larger. They won’t harm corals or invertebrates, making them suitable for reef aquariums. One male can be kept with a group of females introduced at the same time. Since they are prone to jumping, a tight-fitting canopy is recommended. Their diet should consist of vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, along with other meaty foods, as well as high-quality marine flake and pellet food.
